1. Scope
1.1 General
This document is part of a family of documents consisting of:
- CWA Part 1. CEN ORCHID Roadmap: Direction and Framework

- CWA Part 3. CEN ORCHID Roadmap: Standards Landscape (this document)
1.2 Scope of the whole family of standards
The scope of the CEN OPRCHID WS project is defined along the following parameters:
• Stakeholders
- The process industry supply chain i.e.: plant owners, EPC contractors, equipment vendors, software vendors, standardisation consortia, trade associations
- Authorities, regulatory bodies
- Standards
- Standards that are relevant for the implementation of the Roadmap in practice
- They are listed in CWA 3: Roadmap Standards Landscape (this document)
- Timeframe
- The timeframe covered by the Roadmap
o Up until now covers from 1994 – 2010
o From 2010 – 2020
- Not in scope
- Real-time DCS information
- Smart equipment
- Transition standards
- The business process used by supply chain participants to create and use information
1.3 Scope of this document
Within the scope of the whole family of standards, the following topics are in scope of this document:
- Definition of a landscape framework which provides methods to describe and organise standards, which are related to information exchange in the plant lifecycle and the related supply chains.
- Specification of categories of standards which describe the purpose and nature of standards which are related to the information exchange in the plant lifecycle and the related supply chains.
- Identification of standards which are relevant in the process industry plant lifecycle and the related supply chains.
- NOTE Standards do not only include the standards developed by formal standards bodies like ISO / IEC / ITU or their national members, but also standards which are developed by industry associations.
